We get left  apples on our doorstep regularly in the Autumn. So thought we would share a quick and easy Apple sauce for the kids to make.

This makes a large batch. Easy to freeze in small bags. Add some more mixed spice when you thaw as spices lose flavour in freezer.

1000 g cooking apples cored, peeled and diced

2/3 cup water

20 G unsalted butter

4 tbls caster sugar

1/4 tsp mixed spice

2 tbls lemon juice

Place diced apples and water in large pan. Simmer for about 10 minutes until softened. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Remove from heat and let stand 5 min. Blend in food processor, hand blender or masher until desired consistency.
